In celebration of the #WorldTBDay, USAID’s TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening Project (TBIHSS), through its implementing partner FHI 360, co-organized the launch of the 2023-2035 Philippine Acceleration Action Plan for TB (PAAP TB) on March 24, 2023 at the Conrad Hotel in Pasay City. Gracing the event are key officials from the government, civil society, program partners, health advocates, and stakeholders. The 2023-2035 PAAP TB provides cutting edge approaches, clear strategic direction, and doable means of achieving the Philippines’ goal of ending the TB epidemic.

USAID’s TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening (TBIHSS) Project, led by FHI 360 and in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH), wins big during the recently concluded 58th Anvil Awards, which is the symbol of excellence in public relations. The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) awarded 2 Silver Anvil Awards to USAID’s TBIHSS for the health campaigns on “Tanggal Bacteria Power” and #TBFreePh.

USAID’s TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening (TBIHSS) Project, through its implementing partner FHI 360, together with the Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PhilCAT), conducted a scientific meeting on Leveraging Point of Care Solutions for TB and Multi-Diseases Diagnosis held last March 16, 2023 at Marco Polo, Ortigas. Taking centerstage were PHILCAT National Chair Dr. Janice Caoili, RITM-NTRL Department Head Dr. Ramon Basilio, FHI 360 Country Representative in the Philippines and USAID’s TBIHSS Chief of Party Dr. Soliman Guirgis, and WHO Philippines Team Lead and Technical Officer Dr. Bayo Fatunmbi.

USAID’s TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening (TBIHSS) Project, through its implementing partner FHI 360, conducted a 2-hour dissemination forum on the newly deployed Comprehensive Alert System embedded in the ITIS and ITIS Lite web and mobile platforms participated by notifying physicians and health partners nationwide.

USAID and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) gathered more than 70 participants of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) for the Training of Supervisors on the Family Development Session (FDS) on Tuberculosis (TB) Awareness. Dubbed as, “Sama-sama: TBFree Pamilya,” this first of the three trainings was conducted in Olongapo CIty for the Luzon Cluster and will be subsequent to the Visayas and Mindanao clusters.

USAID’s TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening Project, through its implementing partner FHI 360, partnered with Enchanted Kingdom (EK) and the Sta. Rosa City Health Office to promote the importance of discussing TB in the workplace and introducing the Healthy Workplace Framework.
