As the head nurse at the Pinamungahan TB-DOTS clinic, Bejic saw the sudden drop in the number of persons being treated for TB.

Jusmine Barbo shares her story of struggle and triumph over her illness.

It’s one thing for the youth to struggle with an illness like Tuberculosis (TB), but it’s entirely different when in the face of a global pandemic.

Jusmine Barbo had contracted TB in 2018, right before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. Then a 15-year old student, she was only starting to navigate through life and enjoying all of what it has to offer. “I was at this point in my life when I was just beginning to pursue my dreams,” she said. 

Ways To Deal With Tuberculosis During The Cold SeasonThe cold season has once again brought in many different kinds of illnesses. Aside from the usual colds, coughs, and flu, other respiratory diseases such as pneumonia may take place or may become worse.

The USAID’s TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening (TBIHSS) Project, led by FHI 360 in the Philippines, conducted a series of consultation meeting and planning workshop on the Integrated Delivery of Tuberculosis Services (iDOTS) Phase 2 Implementation nationwide. TBIHSS successfully consulted with 13 regions from June 2022 to March 2023 where bulk of the discussion was anchored on the iDOTS Phase 2 overall implementation plan in line with the Universal Health Care implementation.

In celebration of the #WorldTBDay, the USAID’s TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening (TBIHSS) Project, as managed by FHI 360 in the Philippines, led the ceremonial launch of the TB Care in Full Circle for the Integrated Delivery of Tuberculosis Services (iDOTS) Phase 2. This simultaneous launch was held on March 21 and 23, 2023 in La Union, Sorsogon, Negros Occidental, and Agusan del Norte in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and the Centers of Health Development (CHD) Ilocos, Bicol, Western Visayas, and CARAGA. The launch was participated by more than 800 participants from various agencies and organizations.

USAID’s TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening (TBIHSS) Project, implemented by FHI 360, in collaboration with  the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) brought together more than 50 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) for the first Family Development Session (FDS) on TB Awareness using the module: Sama-sama sa TB-Free Pamilya and Active Case Finding of Tuberculosis in Mandaue City, Cebu.
