USAID’s TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening (TBIHSS) Project, through its implementing partner FHI 360, together with the Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PhilCAT), conducted a scientific meeting on Leveraging Point of Care Solutions for TB and Multi-Diseases Diagnosis held last March 16, 2023 at Marco Polo, Ortigas. Taking centerstage were PHILCAT National Chair Dr. Janice Caoili, RITM-NTRL Department Head Dr. Ramon Basilio, FHI 360 Country Representative in the Philippines and USAID’s TBIHSS Chief of Party Dr. Soliman Guirgis, and WHO Philippines Team Lead and Technical Officer Dr. Bayo Fatunmbi.

USAID’s TBIHSS Consortium event brought together experts from India, the Philippines, and Bangladesh represented by: (1) Dr. Nishant Kumar, Deputy Director from the Indian Ministry of Health & Family Welfare; (2) Dr. Ramon Basilio, Department Head from the Philippine National TB Reference Laboratory; and (3) Mr. Sarder Tanzir Hossain, Senior TB Diagnostics Specialist from FHI 360 Bangladesh. These experts shared their experiences, best practices, and lessons learned regarding Point of Care Testing for TB, COVID-19, and other multi-diseases diagnosis. During the event, USAID’s TBIHSS also discussed the potential of TrueNat as a viable means of innovative testing for TB, alongside other testing options such as GeneXpert.
