The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) joined partners from the Department of Health, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and the local government of Malabuyoc municipality in Cebu province to launch Konsulta (Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama), an initiative linking individual primary care clinics and auxiliary service facilities to provide the full range of health services.​ Malabuyoc is the first town in the Central Visayas region to receive a Konsulta PhilHealth accreditation.

Valenzuela City has become the first local government unit to adopt the Healthy Workplaces: #WorkTBFree initiative of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Health (DOH).

With the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the #WorkTBFree initiative includes online tools to help human resources and occupational safety officers design, implement and monitor programs for TB in the workplace.

Experts and officials from the Department of Health (DOH), Climate Change Commission, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), called for concerted efforts to improve air quality in the Philippines and mitigate its effects on lung health.

The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Health (DOH) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) recently launched online learning tools to help companies implement tuberculosis (TB) prevention programs in workplaces.

Discrimination and stigma among Tuberculosis (TB) patients in the workplace, communities and even in the healthcare facilities have been rampant, often leading to avoidance and in some cases, physical violence.

Addressing this concern is the Philippine Alliance to Stop TB (PASTB), an advocacy network composed of 18 civil society organizations working on TB, community-based organizations, and TB patient groups. It seeks to combat formidable stigma and discrimination through a photo exhibit known as Trials and Triumphs: A Photo Exhibit on Coping With TB-Related Discrimination.

The campaign which includes a teaser video, 15 monographs and a photo exhibit tells the stories of 15 TB survivors who do not only speak about the cost of stigma and discrimination but also show how they have coped with strength and resilience.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES -- The USAID-supported #TBFreePH Journalist Grant on TB Coverage, which trained journalists in producing evidence-based stories about the burden of Tuberculosis in the Philippines, was recently awarded a Philippine Quill Award by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
